OUR STORY

We are a small, family run flower farm nestled within the former mill town of historic Savage, midway between Baltimore and Washington DC.

The story summary…flowers found me. Again and again. As harbingers of change to come, muse, healer, and artistic medium. After a series of life changes, I spent a few summers working on a large scale flower farm. Then 2020 and the pandemic changed the professional and personal landscape. I decided it was time to start a flower farm that followed my creative vision. Through the encouragement and toiling hands of a loving partner, family members and close friends, Indigo & Ivy Farm was established.

Indigo & Ivy is a micro-farm that utilizes no-till soil prep and regenerative growth practices. This enables us to produce healthier, fuller stems while enriching our soils. Each flower variety is selected as seeds or as plugs from quality sources known for their ethical stance within the industry. We maximize our 10,000 sq feet of growing space through strategic, successive field plantings to ensure continuous harvests throughout the growing season. We fully admit that we are stewards, and not flower moguls. As such, we are in a constant space of learning to work with the natural rhythms and needs of our local growth zone. Our hyperlocal and seasonal focus aims to reduce the carbon footprint within the floral network. As our floral design side grows, we additionally source from local, women-owned farms and flower co-ops, such as Monocacy Valley Flower Co-op in Montgomery County. We believe in community-based economics. The success of small businesses enable our communities to thrive and grow. Our trusted colleagues and customers are the binding relationship within our endeavors.

Growing healthy, local flowers that delight is my passion.

An extensive professional background in education and art influences my approach as a cut flower farmer & floral designer. I remain driven about learning how to produce flowers that honor the vitality and health of our soils. I have studied floral design with respected farmer florists & floral designers through classes and freelancing. Our farm planning reflects current floral trends and seasonality. Popular and unique varieties are grown to provide artful, garden inspired designs- adding a wow factor to your arrangements, wedding and event florals.

I look forward to sharing our bespoke florals with you!

This was me standing beside my mom’s garden on the first day of kindergarten. It was a typical moment. My family surrounded me with flowers, natural spaces and gardening. It ran deep in the family tree. My grandfathers were horticulturalists and landscape architects, spending much of their lifetimes married to the land. I can vividly remember my mom, on her knees, hands in the dirt, as she worked in the garden. She would share how this sent her worries adrift, while pulling weeds and tending to her iris and roses. While it’s been a while without these special people in my life. It’s in the garden that I meet them again.

Colorful flowers added cheerful ceremony to so many of my life’s moments…first days of school, birthday cakes, neighborly gifts, summer tables and family picnics. My family’s personal gardening and land use values and influence informed my views on conservation and accessibility to nature’s beauty.

The legacy? Homegrown flowers are a creative extension of yourself. They add joy.

Let us cultivate your everyday joy.
